IPL at DAC 2008

IPL (Interoperable PDK Libraries) is an industry alliance established on April 2007 to collaborate on the creation and promotion of interoperable process design kit (PDK) standards. Since its inception, the IPL Alliance has released a proof-of-concept interoperable PCell library, demonstrated interoperability among tools from multiple vendors, and expanded its charter to address broader interoperability issues with foundry process design kits (PDKs) and design flows.
IPL BENEFITS
  • Enables a single PDK to support any OpenAccess tool
  • Reduces PDK development and support costs
  • Creates choices in building your analog design flow
  •
The IPL Proof of Concept library is available here for download. The Proof of Concept library package contains source code files and a readme document. The source code files are provided under a non-restrictive open source license.

All interested foundries, EDA vendors and semiconductor companies are invited to join the IPL initiative. The five founding members of IPL initiative are AWR, Ciranova, Silicon Canvas, Silicon Navigator and Synopsys. The newly added members are JEDAT, Magma, and Virage Logic. Mentor Graphics is a supporting member.
IPL DEMO - This is a live product demonstration by five IPL Alliance members showing an interoperable PCell library that supports six tools including schematic capture, layout editing and design rule checkers.
